Initial Consultation
The first step is the free initial consultation. Here, we need to learn as many of the legally significant facts as we can. And you need to evaluate us to see if the Firm's temperament and approach fits with how you want your issue handled. Think of this as a two-way interview.
Conflict Checks
Attorneys owe their clients a duty of loyalty. Put simply, attorneys must put their clients' interests above their own. While more clients obviously helps our bottom line, we need to make sure that representing you does not conflict with past, present, or foreseeable future issues we may take on. We are completely committed to our clients. Period.
Research & Follow Up
In some cases, the appropriate legal conclusion is easy to spot. In others, we have to dig a little deeper. Fortunately, research is what we do. We want to make sure we have a clear picture of your situation, and we want to make sure you fully understand all of your options. During this stage, we may ask for more information from you or request a follow-up meeting. There is no charge for this either.
Engagement
Here, we both either agree to work together, or we go our separate ways. By now, you will have a clear picture of what our fees are for your particular issue and what your options are. At this point, we will work with you to finalize an engagement agreement with the Firm, or we will tell you that we will not handle your matter. You will not be left guessing. You deserve clarity.
